Illness Policy

When to Keep Your Child at Home?

Children must stay home if they have:

  • Fever of 100.1°F (38°C) or higher (must be fever-free for 24 hours without medication to return).

  • Vomiting or diarrhea in the past 24 hours.

  • Unexplained rash, pink eye, or contagious illness.

  • Persistent cough, runny nose, difficulty breathing, or flu-like symptoms.

If your child is absent or has been sent home due to illness, a doctor’s note is required.

Medication

MEDICATION:

No Teacher is allowed to administer medication to any child. If your child has to take medication, please ensure that it has been given either before school or after school. WE DO NOT give students medication unless prescribed by a doctor and approved by the office. These prescribed medications must bear the child's name along with the correct amount to give. If the medication is to be given once or twice a day, parents are responsible for administering the medication.

Immunization Illness

If your little one had an immunization shot, it is standard practice that the doctor asks parents to stay home thereafter to properly monitor your child's reaction, so students will not be allowed back to school the same day without a doctor's slip indicating it is safe for the child to be at school.

ILLNESS

Please advise the Center prior to 8:00 am if a child will not be attending daycare due to illness.

Students exhibiting any of the following symptoms will not be admitted to the center:

  • overnight fever,

  • runny nose,

  • cough,

  • allergy-related- inflammation,

  • skin infection, tiredness, low energy, low appetite,

  • overnight diarrhea,

  • overnight vomiting,

  • congestion.

These symptoms indicate that your child may be unwell and could potentially have a contagious illness. This is to maintain a healthy environment for all children and staff.

Parents agree that a child who is ill (e.g., fever, infection, diarrhea, runny nose, communicable disease, or any other type of illness that may be passed on to others must be kept at home to protect the well-being of other children.

Please respect our illness policy. If a child is not well enough to go outside to play, they are not well enough to attend school.

Sick Bay

The parents further agree that should a child become ill while in care, those immediate arrangements will be made to remove the child from the class. Children will not be allowed to return to school until they have been symptom-free for at least 24 hours, and a note from a doctor is necessary.

Teething Illness

Teething does not cause fever, a cold, or any other common illness. If your child has a fever, then something else is wrong. Teething causes discomfort, crying, crankiness, and sore gums.

MEAL & Allergy Policies

Meal Policy

Breakfast and lunch are included in the school program. If parents still decide to have lunch brought in from home, we ask that it be placed in a proper food container/ thermos. To help ensure all children have a healthy start to their day and maintain the integrity of our meal program, we kindly request your cooperation regarding breakfast. Our breakfast service is available from 7:30 AM to 8:40 AM.

In our all-inclusive program, there is no rollover with the meal plan. Those days are gone if your child is absent. No cash will be accepted for Meals. All payments must be paid together, no exceptions. If you are sending lunch, it must be sent in a Thermos or a proper container. If the lunch needs to be warmed up from Toddlers 1 to Pre-k4/5, there is a $1.00 fee charged. Please avoid packing leftover food as it may spoil in the child's bag. If the food needs to be refrigerated, please inform the office and make a note on your child's School App.

Nursery 1 and 2: If you would like your little ones to join the meal program, please note that there will be an additional fee of $50 per month or $10 to $25 per week. All payments must be transferred directly to the school’s banking information. Please be reminded that cash payments will not be accepted at the office.

Bottles & Thermos:

To ensure your child's safety and smooth feeding at nursery, please adhere to the following bottle preparation guidelines: * **Bottle Type:** Only plastic bottles are permitted. Bottles must be thoroughly cleaned and sanitized before each use. Bottles should arrive either pre-filled with prepared formula or accompanied by a separate formula dispenser. Clearly label *every* bottle with your child's full name. Only a non-glass thermos will be accepted to avoid potential breakage and associated hazards. Adhering to these guidelines ensures a safe and efficient feeding routine for your child while in our care.

Late Arrival for breakfast:

We understand that schedules can be unpredictable. Therefore, if you anticipate arriving after 8:40 AM, please ensure your child has eaten breakfast before drop-off. If your child has not eaten, we will kindly ask you to feed them before they join their classmates. This policy is in place to prioritize your child's nutritional needs and well-being. Thank you for your understanding and partnership in ensuring a positive and healthy environment for all.

Nursery 1 and 2

Nursery 1 and 2 breakfast policy. Please be advised that, as our youngest children are primarily bottle-fed, this policy does not apply to them. Recognizing they are still very young and in the early stages of learning about different foods, we happily accept packed meals for your little ones. If you wish to, we kindly ask that all meals be placed in proper eating containers to ensure safety and hygiene. Additionally, we recommend that you provide your child with a warm bottle before drop-off. This practice can significantly help in alleviating any potential grumpiness or stomach discomfort that may arise from waiting to be fed by their caregiver.

Finally, as your children grow and explore different foods, we encourage you to use mealtimes at home as an opportunity to establish healthy eating habits and routines. This will help prepare them for a smoother transition into the Toddler program and encourage positive eating behaviors as they develop.
